5PM Shadow was created from real-world experience behind the machine.

Founded by scalp micropigmentation artist and educator John Chandler, 5PM Shadow was built around one goal: provide professional SMP artists with dependable products designed specifically for the demands of scalp micropigmentation.

John has worked in the SMP industry since 2016, performing thousands of treatments and working with clients across a wide range of skin tones, hair colors, hair-loss patterns, density treatments, scar camouflage cases, and hairline styles.

From 2017 through 2022, John worked with Skalp in London, regularly performing approximately 10–13 SMP sessions per week. That hands-on experience helped shape the standards behind the products and techniques used by 5PM Shadow today.

Scalp micropigmentation requires a different approach than traditional tattooing. Follicle impressions need to be small, controlled, consistent, and capable of healing naturally within the scalp.

That is why 5PM Shadow focuses specifically on professional SMP products, including SMP pigments, precision SMP cartridges, SMP machines, pigment modifiers, aftercare products, and professional artist accessories.

Every product is selected and developed with actual SMP procedures in mind. The goal is simple: give artists reliable tools that help them produce clean, natural-looking results while maintaining consistency from treatment to treatment.

Through 5PM Shadow and Scalp Co. Academy, John continues to train SMP artists in hairline design, needle selection, pigment selection, pigment dilution, impression size, needle depth, machine control, density techniques, scar camouflage, client consultation, photography, business development, marketing, and client acquisition.

Our goal is not simply to sell SMP supplies. We want to help artists better understand the tools they use and why they use them.
